Welcome to the Guardians CCG Page

This is a site dedicated to the Guardians collectible card game released by FPG in the mid '90s. This was a great game featuring beautiful artwork and a complex battle system. The game is now out of print and some cards are extremely difficult to find.

Here you will find alternate rules and game mods (including solo play), homebrew cards, and links to other Guardians sites.

C.J. Burke's .sig card #83: Playing 'Possum

I have planned to do 100 of C.J.'s .sig cards to match the 100 cards in Champion's Odyssey. Since a Stronghold set and a Tweezle are already done, counting "Playing 'Possum" there are only 13 more cards to make...

well, there were at least 266 sig cards, so either it's time for next 166 Champion's Odyssey cards, or it's time for a new expansion :D

Well, just because there's 266 sig cards doesn't mean they are all doable ;)

I mean, some are obviously a joke (like Argyle Gargoyle or Wave of Sugar). But the biggest problem is artwork. Trying to find artwork for Lesser Energy Elemental, G.I. Ants, or Polar Bear from the original artists is impossible.

I'd love for C.J. to make an appearance and let me know that artwork from artists other than the original is ok with him, then I would keep going past 100 cards. As far as I recall I don't remember him having a problem with sig cards in Seven Seas with such artwork (like Floral Princess or L'il Devil).

Hey, you're the one making the cards. I'll leave the choice of artwork in your capable hands. Sometimes you have to stretch the boundaries. And there were a couple of artists that only did one or two cards in the original sets, so why not.

If you like an idea and think it would make a card, don't let the artist stop you. I'm sure there are plenty out there with a similar style.

Thanks for leaving your blessing. It's a thrill for me to see the cards take shape and it was a shame to stop at 100. I can keep going now! Expect more soon...
