Welcome to the Guardians CCG Page

This is a site dedicated to the Guardians collectible card game released by FPG in the mid '90s. This was a great game featuring beautiful artwork and a complex battle system. The game is now out of print and some cards are extremely difficult to find.

Here you will find alternate rules and game mods (including solo play), homebrew cards, and links to other Guardians sites.

This one is a little bit flawed. It has to travel with the Shield, so it has to be a Creature item and not a Hand item. But Creature items should be linked to one creature, and they shouldn't affect the entire shield.

I don't know how I didn't realize that before. Unless, of course, it was meant to be a joke. (It might've been a quick response to something someone else had said.)

The simple solution would be to apply it to a single Male/Female pair. But if they were Titans, that would be more abusive than if the entire Shield had to be Male/Female, which would be harder to do.

I disagree that it should be linked to 1 creature. Tweezles, Wheel of Law, Disc of Siin - these are creature magic items that travel under a shield but are not attached to a creature. And Altar of Takuli is a creature magic item that can heal ANY creature under the shield, implying it is not attched to any one creature.

There are only 2 male/female pairs in the game: Titans and Pixies, which makes the card limited. Male Titans are 17, Female Titans are 15, Male and Females Pixies are 2. If the Female Titan & Female Pixie didn't count, the Male Titan plus Male Pixie are a total of 19, allowing you to squeeze in another 10 Pixies. That's a problem.

If you can think of another solution, such as only 1 creature not counting towards the space limit, I'll change the text...

Okay, then I'm just not remembering correctly. I was thinking about the type of stuff that needed to be linked to a creature to work (like Wings to make them fly), which you'd lose if you lost the creature.

As for 10 pixies, that would be a problem -- if you can get 10 pixies together. That's a lot of cards to draw. And if you dispel the Magic Item, you're in a lot of trouble.

The fact that the entire shield had to be Male and Female is a limiting factor. You can't pad it with anything else.

The limitations probably equal the abusiveness. I mean, who would want to play with just Pixies & Titans under a Shield? That would get old, fast. And you're right - trying to assemble that many creatures under the Shield means your opponent is out claiming disputed terrain spaces.

The card is probably fine the way it is...
