Welcome to the Guardians CCG Page

This is a site dedicated to the Guardians collectible card game released by FPG in the mid '90s. This was a great game featuring beautiful artwork and a complex battle system. The game is now out of print and some cards are extremely difficult to find.

Here you will find alternate rules and game mods (including solo play), homebrew cards, and links to other Guardians sites.

Well how do you like that?

So here I am, going on about how I've lost my focus and I start changing all the cards, when CJ comes along and tells me how nice a couple of them are.

*sigh*

Now what do I do? When I started redesigning the cards for Solo, I liked some of the ideas I came up with. But it appears some of my original ideas weren't as bad as I thought.

For now, I guess I'll post both versions of the cards: a version that works with the base set, and a Solo Adventures variant. Double the work, but what the heck! That's just how I roll...

Thanks alot, CJ! ;)

Hey, don't let me stand in the way. They're your vision. Tweak them as you will.

Besides, that was my first impression of the cards.

By the way, they're visually quite stunning. Nice job picking out the artwork for them.

Confession: I don't know anything about your solo rules, so I wasn't looking at them through that lens. I'm looking at them as someone who hasn't played a good game of Guardians in way too long.

Well, I do value your feedback, regardless of how long it's been since you played. Not to mention that you're the only one leaving feedback, so you do have that in your favor, lol.

It is actually a relief to design two different versions of the cards. That way, I don't have to make any compromises. To make some cards work only in Solo and some work only in the base set would have made my little homebrew expansion too confusing with no unifying theme. Maybe having two versions of the same card is just as confusing, though. Still, I'm enjoying the challenge. So my jesting is all in good fun.

As for the artwork, I was worried that I wouldn't have enough to carry the set. I've rejected quite a bit and tried to choose what I felt was the highest quality. Recently I obtained some nice Maitz and Achilleos artwork, so I'm considering changing the artist distribution once more.

So keep the comments coming. It is a source of inspiration knowing there's at least one person out there that appreciates it. Otherwise I might have given up...
