Welcome to the Guardians CCG Page

This is a site dedicated to the Guardians collectible card game released by FPG in the mid '90s. This was a great game featuring beautiful artwork and a complex battle system. The game is now out of print and some cards are extremely difficult to find.

Here you will find alternate rules and game mods (including solo play), homebrew cards, and links to other Guardians sites.

Planar Conflict: sample of a Glyph Card

Below you will find two samples of a Glyph card. The first is a pretty straight forward glowing rune, as if it just popped into existence. The second has a trail of sparks as if the Glyph was drawn by hand, possibly with some kind of Artifact.

Please have a look and if you have any opinions, leave them in the comments. I'm having trouble choosing one, although I'm leaning towards to the first sample at the moment...

Hallo Jackalwere,

let me tell you how fascinating your work on Guardians is. Its gives a great impression about the way the game could have developed (or is developing - you know what I mean) if the whole CCG/TCG-bubble wouldn't have imploded. The new rule-concept lets the hunger grow and I can't wait until the whole expansion is published. We had a few games not long ago and let me say, we had a lot of fun - even if there came up some questions about the gameplay of some of the newer cards (is it possible to post questions about specific cards on your blog, about the way they work?).
Nevertheless, I just want to leave a comment about the glyph-concept: I do prefer the first concept. It is more plain and pure, more simple and strong together. It is pure runemagic, whereas the second one has mor of a fairydust-touch.

So far, best regards from a little Guardians-outpost in Germany.

Keep on your inspiring work.

Best regards,
Andreas Krebs

May I ask where in Germany you reside? I live in Munich and it would be great to play some Guardians again, not to mention get the 3 or 4 cards I need to complete my set.

Andreas

Andreas, thanks for the feedback! I love hearing that your group is still playing this great game.

If you have questions about a specific card, simply send the question to jackalwere at gmail dot com. We can then make it it's own post on the blog, right up on the front page, so that it doesn't get lost in the comments section of the original card post from years ago.

Also, thanks for the feedback on the Glyph card, I'm going to move forward with the first design. I think you and your friends will have a lot of fun with this set when it is finished.

Best regards,
Jackalwere

Hi Andreas,
als Guardians grade hot war, 96 oder so war ich mal in deiner Ecke (Friedberg) auf 'nem Con. Da gab es den Eternal Witchlord für 12 Mark... :D

Mir fehlt noch der linke Teil vom Drifters Nexus Stronghold und ein DN/NP Schild oder Standard Bearer. Muss noch mal genau nachsehn. Du kannst mir gerne mal mailen (rorschach ätt stoned punkt com). Gruß Matthias
